Labor Day became an official federal holiday in 1894 in the United States to honor the American labor movement and the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of this great nation. Canada celebrates Labor Day on the first Monday in September as well, and more than 80 countries celebrate International Workers’ Day on May 1 – the ancient European holiday of May Day. Several countries have chosen their own dates to honor working people. Generally, Labor Day passes all too quickly as the third day off in a three-day weekend. I would like to take a moment and remember that Labor Day is a time to recognize workers and express my gratitude to the employees of SCC Soft Computer and its sister companies around the globe. I am proud to work with such a dedicated, talented, and hard-working group — each of whom plays an important role in this company and contributes to our collective success. I would also like to thank our clients for choosing SCC Soft Computer as their LIS vendor and for their continued support. I hope you and your loved ones enjoyed a well-deserved long weekend and a safe and relaxing Labor Day. |

SCC Soft Computer expands global reach SCC Soft Computer is reducing laboratory bottlenecks around the globe with our innovative and powerful laboratory and genetics information system solutions! SCC is pleased to announce that our systems are live at new locations in South America, Indonesia, and France. As we continue our expansion across Australia, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, we look forward to sharing news about additional SCC client sites on nearly every continent. Our global expansion enables us to reach a wide audience and continue our pioneering spirit. As we expand into the international marketplace, we’re continuing to invest heavily in R&D and apply new innovations to our robust suites of integrated clinical information management systems. SCC Soft Computer is featured in Brazilian healthcare publication SCC was recently featured in a Brazilian (Portuguese language) healthcare publication that detailed SCC’s journey to bringing SoftLab®, SoftMic®, SoftMedia®, and SoftWebPlus® live at one of the largest centers for treatment of cardiovascular diseases in Latin America. With a new laboratory information system (LIS) from SCC, this healthcare provider intends to process its laboratory tests with far better efficiency and no bottlenecks to surpass their target volume of 200,000 tests per month. According to SCC’s Brazil Country Manager, Shahbaz Fatheazam, what gave SCC the edge was our ability to not only meet the client’s requirements and current needs, but also our commitment that we were prepared to meet their future needs. Before moving forward, this hospital of excellence mandated that the acquired LIS was able to meet a number of requirements. The first was that the software would be able to accommodate the rapid growth of the laboratory, especially with multisite characteristics and unlimited scalability. The system should also show sufficient flexibility through its open and secure architecture to allow for additional solutions as well as to lay the groundwork for acquiring a future GLIS (Genetics LIS) without being hamstrung by software integration issues. Two other aspects were also taken into account: namely to guarantee solid client support during and after software implementation and a strong maintenance service, both remotely and in person, to avoid the negative effects of downtime. They also required a fully validated and tested system of a Portuguese version. In addition to the standard requirements presented, SCC also had to overcome some challenges after implementing our solutions, such as breaking the cultural barrier over prior systems. Fatheazam observed that convincing users to come on board is crucial to success in implementing new technologies. It’s essential for the implementation team to have the ability to streamline their implementation process to minimize the impact resulting from a change in technology and be able to address the learning curve to minimize the frustration of learning a new system. Through a series of studies, SCC has discovered that software expenditure in Brazil is growing at an exponential rate. Fatheazam says that two-thirds of Brazilian companies will have larger IT budgets next year. In healthcare, particularly in the LIS market, this growth will be no different, especially with new laboratory techniques being applied in Brazil, such as molecular biology, PCR, genetic sequencing and the development of biochips, increasing the need for ever-greater sophisticated information management systems that are focused on growth. We look forward to expanding in Brazil and pushing our innovative products to hospitals, laboratories, and healthcare systems across the South American continent. |
SCC Soft Computer achieves SCP certification for the ninth consecutive year SCC Soft Computer is pleased to announce that our Client Services division has achieved certification under the prestigious Service Capability & Performance (SCP) Standards for the ninth consecutive year. After an extensive audit of our Clearwater, Florida customer service / technical support center, SCC achieved certification under the SCP Support Standard. “As a healthcare information technology company with a strong research and development focus, SCC has been recognized in the industry for producing functionally-rich products. Achieving this certification sends a clear message that SCC is similarly committed to world-class quality support.” ~Jesus Blasquez, Director of Client Services, SCC Soft Computer
The SCP Support Standards are designed to improve the quality and effectiveness of technology service operations. Service Strategies Corporation and a consortium of leading technology companies created the internationally recognized standards, which define best practices for delivering world-class technology service and support, quantify performance levels, and establish a framework for continuous improvement. Certified companies must continue to demonstrate their performance and commitment to excellence through annual certification audits. The SCP Standards quantify the effectiveness of customer service and support based upon a stringent set of performance standards and represent best practices in the industry. SCC’s final score for 2017 surpassed last year’s audit score and clearly exceeded the industry benchmark. This is a reflection of the maturity of the Client Services organization and SCC’s ability to “close the loop” in day-to-day inter-departmental operations. “SCC’s goal is to continue to supply innovative technologies to meet the diverse needs and strictest demands of each of our clients. As the company moves forward in the development of new technology, particularly in the areas of genetics information systems, customer service and satisfaction remain key to our ability to stay at the forefront of this increasingly competitive market.” ~Gilbert Hakim, Chief Executive Officer, SCC Soft Computer
Since 2009, this program has continually tested our commitment to quality. The SCP Standards challenge us to maintain superior business practices, which helps us maintain our position as a leader in the healthcare IT industry. A great deal of our continued success is a result of our innovation and adaptability. More importantly, the teamwork and collaboration between departments has led to heightened capabilities within the company. This increasingly unified approach resonates clearly with both our clients and competitors, demonstrating the intellect and humility of the dedicated individuals of SCC’s Client Services division. SCC Soft Computer has a commitment to world-class technical support, and we take our commitment to delivering top quality service and support very seriously. We’re here for service! As always, we thank our valued clients for their continued support and for selecting SCC Soft Computer as their LIS provider. _______________________________________Service Capability & Performance Standards/Certified is a registered trademark of Service Strategies Corporation.
