SNUG update

Clearwater, Florida (November 21, 2016) — On behalf of the Soft Network Users Group, SCC Soft Computer is pleased to provide this status update regarding the 2017 SNUG membership drive and annual conference.

SNUG will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2017 with a retrofuturism* theme: Blast from the Past | Remembering the Future. Throughout 2017, the Soft Network Users Group will be reflecting on how far they’ve come since 1992 — from a forum where SCC users could freely discuss SCC’s products with an eye on improvements we could make to better suit our clients’ needs to an independent entity just seven years later when SNUG incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 1999. We couldn’t imagine back then how quickly this SCC users group would gel. Over the years, SNUG has provided a powerful voice to represent what SCC users need and want from their laboratory information systems.

Over the past twenty-five years, it has been a pleasure to watch SNUG become the powerful, proactive, and persuasive organization it is today. We at SCC Soft Computer congratulate the Soft Network Users Group on 25 years of continuing education, constant product advancement, and collegial friendship. We look forward to continuing this journey of innovation and excellence for many decades to come.

*Retrofuturism — the future as seen from the past and the past as seen from the future (depictions of the future produced in an earlier era). If futurism is a ‘science’ bent on anticipating what will come, then retrofuturism is the remembering of that anticipation. It can be defined as nostalgia for a future that never was.

RCM update

Automated verification services > bringing registration and billing departments together

Clearwater, Florida (November 21, 2016) — SCC is pleased to provide this update from RCM Enterprise Services on their XpressUpdate verification service.

A verification service that provides real-time access to physician’s practice management systems to view updated patient and insurance demographics, RCM’s XpressUpdate minimizes the need for calling, faxing, or e-mailing the physician’s office or sending a patient statement. Using a demographic bridge search registration, billing departments can now obtain current patient and insurance demographics.

In addition to the real-time physician office access, XpressUpdate uses advanced proprietary algorithms to sort billions of pieces of information from national and state databases to verify patient identity.

• Insurance eligibility checking includes co-pays and deductible views with patient payment plan functionality.

• End-of-day business is uploaded — scrubbed and sorted — into workflow queues combined with statistical trending.

• One-click Transfer eliminates the need for typing and updates your LIS or billing system with corrected patient and insurance demographics.

• Patient verification service allows you to establish an Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI).

XpressUpdate provides an organized approach during the normal three- to five-day bill hold to scrub patient and insurance demographics prior to claim submission. This eliminates rejections and denials for invalid insurance and enables your follow-up staff to work the more complex challenges.

If you are interested in learning more about RCM’s XPressUpdate verification service, contact Mark Droste at Mark.Droste@rcm-eservices.com.
