Quarterly Announcements - Q4 2015

2015 Recap

Clearwater, Florida (September 30, 2015)—Gilbert Hakim, SCC’s CEO, is pleased to provide this quarterly update.

It has been a busy year both domestically and internationally as SCC Soft Computer continues our expansion into international markets, in particular Europe, Asia, South America, and Australia.  As the world’s largest laboratory and genetics information system software vendor, we continue to be driven to meet new and higher expectations within the global healthcare community.  We are excited about the opportunity to continue to meet with the healthcare industry’s top leadership, discuss the future needs of the healthcare marketplace, and position SCC Soft Computer to deliver worldwide solutions that benefit both our domestic and international partners.  We are pleased to have new clients and partners in Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.  We look forward to reporting additional new client locations throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Australia in the near future.

Additionally, we have been extremely busy with our US, Canadian, and South American client base as we have continued our 2014 Edition EHR Criteria upgrades (Meaningful Use 2) and meeting the needs of over 300 clients at a time where Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and government conditions and timelines are ever-changing.  We successfully streamlined the delivery of software, training, and tools to our client base, ensuring that clients could meet their facilities’ timelines for reimbursement.  We recognized the downtime sensitivities and strategized flexible ways to minimize impact within our client base during the upgrade process.

Finally, I would like to offer my sincere and heartfelt thanks to all of SCC’s valued clients for your continued support and dedication, and for giving SCC the opportunity to be your LIS and genetics information management system solution vendor of choice.  SCC would not be where we are today without your confidence in us.  Because of you, SCC is setting the standard for healthcare information technology.  We continue to be an industry leader because of partnerships with our valued clients.  Thank you for choosing SCC Soft Computer as your LIS vendor and for the critical, lifesaving work you perform every day.  We are proud to be on this journey with you and look forward to many years of success.

SCC’s Educational Services team has been working on converting our popular LIS Admin class from an instructor-led class held here at SCC to a self-directed e-learning course.  We have introduced elements of the new e-learning course into the instructor-led class over the past several months, and we have received excellent feedback.

This new self-directed e-learning course will include an electronic version of the LIS Admin training manual, exercises, and reference material as well as SCC-hosted e-mail support.

Providing LIS Admin as a self-directed e-learning course enables students to repeat sections—or the entire course—for additional reinforcement or a refresher of the material covered.  Furthermore, this enables users to take the course anytime, anywhere allowing flexibility, as disparate client team members work various shifts.  By decreasing costs and increasing flexibility we will increase our clients’ ROI, as the course sections can now be targeted to just the employees who need specific sections rather than sending one employee to learn it all.

We expect to have both 4.0 and 4.5 courses completed early Q4 2015.

·      It’s an Olympics year with the Games of the XXXI Olympiad being held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in August 2016.

·      It’s also the 120th anniversary of the first games of the Modern Olympics held under the auspices of the IOC in 1896.

ICD-10 2015 update

Clearwater Florida (September 29, 2015)—SCC Soft Computer is pleased to provide this status update regarding the ICD-10 conversion.

As stated in SCC's ICD-10 Transition Plans, which were published in Q4 2012 and updated in Q1 2013, the majority of SCC's suite of applications can handle the ICD-10 codes with no coding changes.  SoftA/R® required code changes, and the latest versions of all other SCC information system software applications are compliant.  SCC Soft Computer developed an effective and efficient process to allow clients to use both ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes during the transition period.

SCC has been working diligently over the past few years to assist and prepare our client bases with the necessary tools to meet the ICD-10 requirements.

With ever-changing needs and timelines set forth by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), SCC's Account Executives and Technical Support personnel have been working tirelessly to ensure that more than 230 clients have what they need to be prepared for the October 1, 2015 compliance date for diagnosis coding using Clinical Modification ICD-10-CM and Procedure Coding System ICD-1—PCS for inpatient hospital procedure coding (a year later than the previous compliance date of October 1, 2014 set forth by CMS).

During the course of this project, SCC's focus has been on providing tools to allow our clients to effectively manage this transition, with minimal software impact.  These tools include utilities, reports, and various other mechanisms within SCC's existing laboratory and genetics information system software applications.

With variety of different scenarios and setups, it has a been a successful collaboration between SCC's clients, Account Executives, R&D, and Technical Support towards reaching this common goal of ICD-10 compliance by the October 1, 2015 deadline.

The goal is in sight; however, there is still work to be done.  We look forward to working side-by-side with our valued clients as we put the final touches on these projects.
