Soft Network User Group Holds Annual Conference to Continue Product Education for Clients of LIS Leader

April 1, 2008

Clearwater, FL- Soft Network Users Group (SNUG) is presenting the Healthcare Information Technology Summit, its 16th annual conference for users of SCC Soft Computer’s (SCC) clinical laboratory software solutions. This year’s conference, SNUG 2008 – Imagine the Possibilities, will be held April 14-17 at the Sheraton Sand Key in Clearwater, Florida, and will provide attendees with exceptional educational opportunities through technical sessions and product demonstrations. SNUG was established to promote the free exchange of ideas and suggestions, relating to the applications of SCC Soft Computer’s laboratory software packages. As a vehicle of communication between users and SCC, SNUG offers assistance to the large international client base.
“Educational and networking events like SNUG’s annual conference translate into successful solutions,” says Jean Hakim, President, SCC Soft Computer. “This is an opportunity that not many organizations get to experience with an ordinary vendor. At SCC we listen to our clients and take a hands-on approach to developing software solutions that incorporate client requirements to provide information systems that address the needs of this fast-paced, highly competitive industry.”
The annual users group conference gives SCC staff and clients the opportunity to meet face-to-face, away from work, and “discuss what our clients need to make their facilities more functional on a daily basis,” Mr. Hakim adds. “SCC’s product developers and domain experts use that information towards the development of new software solutions, as well as the enhancement of existing products.”
More than 300 professionals from hospitals, laboratories, and large integrated delivery networks (IDNs) from across the U.S.A. and Canada are expected to attend the 2008 SNUG Healthcare Information Technology Summit. This gathering of professionals from the allied healthcare industry offers a full week of informative breakout sessions and workshops presented by SCC employees and SNUG delegates, as well as pre- and post-conference training classes at SCC’s Clearwater, Florida headquarters.
The annual SNUG conference offers unique educational and networking opportunities. “Each year before the conference, we take the time to create a schedule that will benefit as many attendees as possible,” says Don Keller, SCC’s VP of Education and Training and SCC’s SNUG Conference Director. “The technical sessions are presented by SNUG members and SCC staff, and we encourage SNUG members to present sessions and share lessons learned, best practices, or tips and tricks that have helped increase their organization’s productivity.” Mr. Keller, continues, “This year’s conference will offer more than 100 different educational classes, larger networking sessions, and an even wider variety of vendors.”
The SNUG conference committee is dedicated to making sure attendees are exposed to a variety of tools that can help advance productivity. A tradeshow expo will feature the most practical SCC add-ons as well as healthcare information technology products from third-party vendors. “The SNUG vendor fair presents an opportunity for attendees to discuss these products and explore new ways to boost efficiency,” observes Mr. Keller. “SCC users get to meet a wide variety of third-party vendors and see the latest third-party tools.” Each year, the SNUG conference attracts more and more healthcare IT and allied healthcare professionals who have a common goal of learning what’s new with SCC’s powerful software solutions and finding ways to get the most from their SCC systems.
Keynote speaker, Steve Uzzell – a veteran National Geographic photographer and one of the nation’s top corporate photographers – will bring his “Open Roads, Open Minds: An Exploration of Creative Problem Solving” message to the SNUG 2008 opening session on Monday, April 14. . Using his striking photographs as illustrations of his metaphor about possibility and creativity, Mr. Uzzell inspires audiences to take advantage of his experience and vision to make any venture an adventure.
“The annual SNUG conference offers a unique blend of education, training, and relaxation that you can only find in the Sunshine State,” remarks Mr. Keller. “We’ve found a way to combine business and pleasure to enhance our clients’ learning experience and help motivate them to learn even more!”
