Laboratory Software Leader Relocates Locally to High-tech Office Complex

June 1, 2006

CLEARWATER, FL-Clinical software leader, SCC Soft Computer, moved their corporate headquarters into a former Tech Data office facility in Clearwater, FL earlier this month. The growing privately-held company with 500+ local employees, nearly doubled its square footage, and enhanced its facilities with the move south from Palm Harbor to the popular Bay Vista office park in Clearwater. The Company’s new address is 5400 Tech Data Drive.

“This new facility really reflects our position as a top laboratory information system vendor. It is a much-needed expansion in space for our staff, which in turn benefits our clients so our employees can provide the very highest level of service,” stated, Jean Hakim, President of SCC Soft Computer. “The first day we occupied our new building we began training of our new clients, the prestigious Mayo Clinic.” He went onto say, “clients had continuous support and service, and the company’s down time was minimal thanks to seamless IT configurations from old to new.” The company’s worldwide 1000+ plus workforce support nearly 300 client contracts and over 500 client sites in the U.S., Canada and South America including Continuum Health Partners, New York, NY; M.D Andersen Cancer Center, Houston, TX; and Mt. Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Built in 1989, the 110,000 square foot glass and concrete structure was vacated for nearly two years before SCC started its three quarter of a million dollar, seven-month refurbishment. Changes included the removal of deteriorated and outdated materials, complete revamping and retrofitting of obsolete technical and data communication components, and landscaping with a contemporary interior facade. The company’s new facility allows its employees roomy, ergonomic work environments, an atrium and expanded amenity areas. This additional space is facilitating a hiring-mode for the Company, allowing much-needed positions to be filled. Also, SCC has designated nearly twice as much area to Client meeting space and training/education classrooms.

“This is an ideal location for us in the high-tech corridor, close to St. Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport and other amenities”, says Mehrdad Moshtagh, Director of Property and Real Estate Management for SCC Soft Computer. “It is a tremendous advantage for both our clients and employees, being headquarted in an office park being geared for top businesses.”

SCC Soft Computer purchased and moved into its 58,000 square foot Palm Harbor location in 1993 with a staff of 50 and annual revenues of $5-million. Over the years the company’s product and client base grew exponentially, until the facility could no longer support the 500+ employees, and executive management began the search for a new location. In 2005, SCC grossed nearly $58 million.

Opening in 1989, the Bay Vista office park consists of 385,000+ square feet of office and retail space, and occupies over 50 acres of land in mid-Pinellas County. The office park’s largest tenant was Computer Supply Giant, Tech Data Corporation.
