SCC Soft Computer Honored with 2006 Top 100 Training Award

March 28, 2006

ORLANDO, FL- "Training" magazine announced that SCC Soft Computer has been selected for a 2006 Top 100 Training Award. The national publication unveiled its prestigious winners’ list on March 5 at its annual conference in Orlando, FL. SCC was chosen as 51st based on its qualitative and quantitative response to the publication’s questionnaire, the company’s employee training initiatives, and the ability to overhaul employee turnover in specific departments through training certification. In the top 100, SCC was listed among the ranks of notable Fortune 500 companies, including IBM, Microsoft Corp., Intel Corp. and Wachovia Corp.

“The greatest asset to any operation is its manpower,” says, Jean Hakim, President of SCC Soft Computer. “Staff training is directly tied to a company’s full productivity.” He goes onto say, “The training tools you use as a company definitely spill over to the client or end-user satisfaction, and have an ultimate impact on marketing and sales.” This is the fourth out of five years that SCC has been chosen as a Top 100 contender from "Training" magazine. Each year, the company has advanced up the list several notches. In 2005, SCC Soft Computer ranked number 53.

To qualify for consideration for "Training" magazine’s Top 100 Training Award, training and development services could not be the company’s core business. However, the type of industry or size of business was not limited in the award criteria. Each applicant had to submit an application that included detailed data about the company’s training program. "Training" magazine made their selection over a five-month period. The process began with Training’s independent auditing firm reviewing the applicants’ figures. Next, an editorial team of judges evaluated the applications, using a point-based scale, and open discussions and interviews for the more subjective application areas.

SCC Soft Computer employs a training staff of eleven full-time employees, with an annual training budget of approximately $2 million. The company invests an average of 89 hours per year, training each individual company employee. SCC offers employees numerous educational benefits and tuition reimbursement. “I think what sets us apart from other companies is that at SCC, we’re proactive and look at the big picture”, says Mary Kay LaBrie, a Senior Courseware Developer and Trainer. “We’re constantly evaluating issues and training. We’re not afraid to look at what we’ve done and see how we can do it better.” The publication highlighted a current case study in SCC’s customer service department, and how training dramatically reduced employee turnover rates with a new certification program.

"Training" magazine’s readership includes a cross section of horizontal market industries such as manufacturing, retail, financial, healthcare, government agencies, real estate, non-profit and educational institutions. The national publication has grown to a qualified circulation of nearly 50,000. The majority of the publication subscribers are company executives including managers, directors, vice presidents and presidents.
