Innovation in 2003 Pays Off for Clinical Software Company

January 16, 2004

PALM HARBOR, FL- SCC Soft Computer, a clinical and workflow information software developer, has reported across the board increases in fiscal 2003. The privately held company continues its upward performance trends in the areas of annual revenue, new product installations, system upgrades, live clients, exploration of new technologies, and development of new products. As other vendors in the marketplace suffered from acquisitions, losses and devalued stock during the year, SCC Soft Computer maintained a steady growth course; moving forward with its corporate mission and remaining viably healthy in its profit margin.

The company increased total gross revenues in 2003--topping a solid $51.5 million up from $47.3 million in 2002, an increase of nearly 10%. As in 2002, SCC has again ranked the highest in new, standalone Laboratory Information System software sales, with a total of 25 new client contracts in 2003, the majority of which are 200+ bed hospitals. In addition to selling the software product, SCC boasts a high success rate when it comes to getting the clients up on their feet; that is, actually implementing software systems and going live in a timely manner. In 2003, the company reported a total of 56 new generation GUI (graphical user interface) client server systems going live; 33 of which are new contracts, 23 of which are previous clients adding additional, new software modules.

“SCC’s new generation of client servers’ technology has helped us produce our most successful year, with revenues climbing over $51 million,” states Gilbert Hakim, CEO of SCC Soft Computer. Mr. Hakim attributes much of the company’s continued success to its innovative technological advances. “SCC products provide advanced technology and the highest functionality on the market today for hospitals, IDNs (Integrated Delivery Networks) and commercial laboratories. ” The company’s heavy investment in research and development, and incorporation of new technologies such as XML, .NET, JAVA and CCOW have contributed to the development of SCC’s advanced system features such as Push Technology, Rules-Defined flexibility, seamless connectivity and multi-site capabilities. “This has been our most successful year ever, with 56 implementations going live,” continues Gilbert Hakim.

Jean Hakim, President of SCC, points out other significant factors contributing to the company’s continued achievements. “Our clients may have started out with a single module like SoftPath® (Pathology), SoftLab (laboratory) or SoftBank®II (Blood Bank), liked what they had, then added additional modules when their timing was right.” Jean continues, “We can provide a very digestible cost of migration, and our clients can gradually upgrade their equipment as it works for them. Another key to our success with existing clients is that we provide them an easy, long-term upgrade path. Using these newer technologies allows us to eliminate any obsolescence from our product suite, and further protect our clients’ investment.”

“Both existing and new clients like doing business with us, because we’re dedicated to the philosophy of providing total clinical solutions,” states Jean Hakim, referring to the company’s commitment in regards to staying attuned to clients’ needs. “For instance, SCC’s new SoftWeb™ provides easy remote order entry and results delivery for outreach and other programs. Also, our SoftCompliance software has proven to be an important tool for clients, helping them capture potential lost billing and increase Medicare reimbursement.”

SCC has an equally optimistic outlook for 2004. This year’s early sales activity gives all indications that the company’s growth will continue its upswing. “Our successful implementation of these innovative products is continuing, and we expect growth of 20% this year,” predicts Gilbert Hakim. “We’re now at over 350 total installation sites, and it looks like the best is yet to come.”
