SCC Soft Computer® Celebrates Medical Laboratory Professionals Week

(Clearwater, FL) April 15, 2014 – SCC Soft Computer (SCC) is proud to celebrate Medical Laboratory Professionals Week (MLPW), taking place April 20 – 26, 2014. MLPW is an annual week of recognition for the contribution made to the field of healthcare by dedicated medical laboratory professionals and board-certified pathologists.
Medical laboratory professionals are key members of the healthcare team and play a pivotal role in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. SCC appreciates these efforts and recognizes the critical role they play in diagnosing disease and saving lives – often behind the scenes.
In 2004, SCC developed the brand ‘Lab is Fab!®’ to help increase awareness and promote this line of work. As a token of appreciation and to contribute to the week’s celebration, SCC sends annual Lab Week packages to the laboratories they work with to commend the life-saving work performed by dedicated laboratory staff members. Laboratory professionals may work behind the scenes, but their profession makes up a fundamental aspect of healthcare. SCC plans to continue the tradition of honoring this essential field and the medical laboratory professionals who continue to make a difference in advancing every aspect of modern healthcare and clinical diagnostics.
About Medical Laboratory Professionals Week (MLPW)
Originating in 1975, Medical Laboratory Professionals Week takes place the full last week in April each year and is coordinated by a collaborative committee with representatives from 14 national clinical laboratory organizations. There are approximately 300,000 practitioners of clinical laboratory science in the United States. Since the development of their career group in the 1920s, the clinical laboratory science professional has played an increasingly vital role in the diagnosis and prevention of disease. Today, the clinical laboratorian is a key member of the health care team. Medical Laboratory Professionals Week has been successful in increasing the recognition of clinical laboratory science among the healthcare community and general public.
